Things that are done in civilized countries but not in Turkey:
The number of shelters should be increased.
Shelters should be places to live, not death camps.
Pet shops should ban the sale of cats and dogs.
The criminal record of those applying to adopt a cat/dog must be checked and at least 2 references must be requested.
A nationwide list should be created for those who commit cruelty to animals and it should be recorded in the criminal record so that it cannot be erased.
A video system should be brought to the shelters and the public should be able to connect and watch remotely.
Financial support and zero tax opportunities should be provided to civil institutions working for animals.
Sterilization should be increased.
Municipalities that do not sterilize animals should be fined.
Those who commit cruelty to animals should be given heavy prison sentences and fines.
Municipalities that collect and neuter cats/dogs and then do not return them to where they were taken from, or that cause damage, should be fined and their allocated financial funds should be cut off.
Niğde, Ankara and Aydın Municipalities killed dogs without mercy like barbarians.
